COSRX Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream is a thick, cushioned 100 g moisturizer for skin that feels tight, looks flaky, or is never quite satisfied by a lighter gel. It belongs at the cream step, going on after your essence or serum in the morning, at night, or both.

Sea buckthorn water stands in for plain water as the first thing on the list, at 57.8% of the jar; COSRX calls the plant vitamin tree. Sodium hyaluronate at 3,000 ppm does the water-binding, glycerin and betaine hold moisture alongside it, and panthenol with allantoin leaves the surface softer. Sunflower and macadamia seed oils give the cream its slow, buttery slip. Nothing in the formula is added fragrance or essential oil.

Dry and dehydrated skin gets the most from it, and combination skin often reaches for it once heating or air conditioning starts. Expect a comfortable, cushioned surface and a fuller-looking finish rather than a matte one. COSRX puts sodium hyaluronate in this cream at 3,000 ppm, which is the same thing as 0.3%, a figure COSRX confirmed in its own answers on Ulta. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, so a small share of the jar goes a long way; the rest of the moisture work is done by sea buckthorn water, glycerin, betaine, and the two seed oils. A higher number would not automatically be better, because past a point the extra material simply sits on the surface.

Is this cream cruelty-free, and is it vegan?

COSRX says it does not test its products on animals and requires the same from suppliers and any third party involved in production, so we call this cream cruelty-free. Vegan is a separate matter.
