Beauty of Joseon Revive Serum: Ginseng + Snail Mucin is the hydrating face serum in the dropper bottle. Revive Eye Serum: Ginseng + Retinal is a separate product. Their shared name makes reviews easy to mix up, but the current face-serum ingredient list contains neither retinal nor retinol.
The face serum's appeal is an extra layer of moisture with ginseng, snail filtrate and niacinamide. It's a reasonable purchase to consider if you enjoy a serum beneath your cream and want to try this combination. Expectations of lifted skin, repaired acne scars or retinoid-like results give it a much harder job than the evidence supports.
This is a researched buying review, using official US product information and three published editorial reviews checked September 8, 2026. We haven't tested the serum on skin or calculated a customer-review score.
The current official ingredient list includes glycerin, niacinamide, ginseng root water, trehalose, snail secretion filtrate, adenosine, centella and several forms of hyaluronic acid. Beauty of Joseon positions the formula around hydration and a bouncier-looking complexion. It labels the product fragrance-free. Current Revive Serum formula.
There are two ginseng ingredients: Panax ginseng root water and Panax ginseng root extract. They are separately listed materials, so “ginseng” alone doesn't describe everything about the formula. Snail secretion filtrate is also part of a blend, rather than the whole bottle.
For shopping purposes, the useful distinction is that this is a moisturizing serum with several ingredients working within one formula. You aren't buying a measured standalone dose of ginseng or niacinamide. If you want a particular concentration, the current page doesn't supply one for those ingredients or for snail filtrate.
Because the formula contains snail secretion filtrate, it isn't a suitable choice if you avoid animal-derived skincare ingredients. A cruelty-free statement answers a different question; it doesn't make a snail ingredient vegan.
These numbers have a history. Beauty of Joseon's own Ginseng Line post from September 16, 2022 described Revive Serum as containing 63% ginseng water. Older reviews, including Life with Rumie's 2023 article, repeat that figure and cite 3% snail mucin.
The current US-facing product page doesn't repeat those percentages. Its ingredient list begins with water, with ginseng root water eighth and snail secretion filtrate tenth. The older review's list begins with ginseng root water and places snail filtrate fourth.
That difference doesn't, by itself, prove when or whether the product was reformulated. It does mean we can't confirm the older percentages for the bottle being sold today. If a specific concentration determines your purchase, ask the brand to confirm it against your package.
You may also see Repair Serum in older articles; the same 2023 review describes it as the former name. Treat that as historical context, not proof that every old bottle, photo or ingredient list is interchangeable with a current Revive listing.
Read the words after “Revive,” not just the brand name:
The official eye-serum page also contains its own finished-product study claims. Those findings do not belong to the snail face serum. A review mentioning retinal percentages, an eye-area wrinkle study or a yellow eye cream is discussing a different product.
If the retinal formula was what you meant to research, use our Revive Eye Serum review. You don't need to buy both because their names match.
The most useful review details concern how much product someone applies and what goes over it. Those choices matter when you're deciding whether another serum will feel pleasant in your own routine.
Naya Tilly described Revive as a light gel with a little grip, followed by a nighttime moisturizer. MissLJBeauty enjoyed the hydration but also mentioned occasional stickiness. Life with Rumie described a lightweight feel yet didn't plan to repurchase because she wanted different results.
Those are individual experiences, with older purchases. They don't establish a universal finish or tell us how the current bottle will behave under your makeup. Still, they suggest a useful first question: do you enjoy a serum you can briefly feel on your skin, or do you want every layer to disappear immediately?
If you try Revive, begin with the brand's few-drop instruction. A full dropper because someone else uses one may leave more product than you want between cleanser and cream. Let the layer settle before judging its finish.
For a fair comparison, keep your familiar moisturizer the same. Changing serum, cream and foundation together makes it difficult to tell which product is responsible for a better finish—or an uncomfortable one.
Beauty of Joseon markets Revive for skin that feels dry and lacks bounce. That is a reasonable cosmetic goal to evaluate: does your skin feel more comfortably hydrated, and do you like how it looks after use? It isn't evidence that the serum lifts sagging skin or rebuilds facial volume.
The current product page reports a 24-hour sensitive-skin patch test involving 33 people to support its non-irritating claim. That is a short tolerability test, not proof of long-term wrinkle improvement, scar repair or suitability for every person. We haven't reviewed a full study report or independently repeated the test. Fragrance-free also doesn't mean reaction-free. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends trying a new skincare product on a small test area twice daily for seven to ten days before wider use. If a reaction develops, wash it off and stop using it; persistent or severe symptoms deserve professional advice. AAD product-testing guidance.
If you already know an ingredient causes you problems, compare the full list before buying. This serum shouldn't be used as a way to push through irritation from an otherwise uncomfortable routine.
Beauty of Joseon's face-serum directions are simple: put a few drops onto clean hands, pat into the skin, then follow with moisturizer. Avoid touching the dropper directly to your skin. You can place it after a toner if you already use one. A ginseng toner or essence isn't a required companion purchase. The brand recommends its Ginseng Essence Water underneath, but that pairing is an option, not evidence that the serum needs a second bottle to work.

At our September 8 check, the official US listing offered 30 mL for $17 and 60 mL for $27.20. That works out to approximately $0.57 per mL and $0.45 per mL, respectively, before shipping and tax. For a first bottle, the smaller size limits the amount committed before you know whether you like it. For a repeat purchase, compare the larger bottle's actual checkout price with two smaller ones. A cheaper milliliter only helps if you'll use it.
Before deciding to repurchase, look for three ordinary improvements: your skin feels more comfortable, the serum layers well with the cream you already use, and you reach for it willingly. If all three are true, Revive has a practical reason to stay. If you mainly keep waiting for dramatic firming or scar changes, reconsider the goal rather than automatically ordering more.
