Klairs Vitamin Drop review: formula, feel and the bottle label
Updated September 8, 2026
Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop is worth comparing if you want a serum sold with 5% pure vitamin C, rather than choosing a higher percentage by default. But “beginner-friendly” shouldn't settle the purchase. The full formula, bottle instructions and your existing routine matter just as much.
There is also a product-information snag: the brand's current photograph and its published ingredient lists don't tell quite the same story. Before buying this particular Drop, confirm which formula the seller has. That is especially useful if you are choosing it for ceramides or avoiding aromatic oils.
We checked current brand information, packaging and three published reviews on September 8, 2026. This is a researched buying review; we haven't used the serum or measured its effects on skin.
First, match the name and ingredient label
The current Klairs shop listing still uses Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop as its product name. Its main photograph, shown above, reads “Vita C Vitamin Drop” and mentions centella, ceramide and hyaluronic acid.
However, neither that page's full ingredient declaration nor the corporate Vitamin Drop page's declaration lists a ceramide. Both published lists begin with water, propylene glycol and ascorbic acid. The photograph is genuine brand artwork, but it doesn't resolve the discrepancy between the pictured label and the written formula.
We can't establish from those two pages exactly when a formula changed or which stock a different retailer will send. Ask for the full ingredient label on the bottle being offered if this affects your choice. Don't combine the photograph's ingredients with an older list to create a formula that no source actually supplies.
Keep Vitamin Charging Serum separate, too. That is another Klairs product, discussed in our Korean vitamin C serum comparison. A favorable review of that pump bottle isn't a review of this 35 mL Drop.
What the disclosed percentage helps you compare
The shop states 5% pure vitamin C and gives a pH of 3.8. Those are manufacturer specifications, not our measurements. They identify the intended type of serum more usefully than a general promise of glow.
A percentage isn't a comfort rating, though. You can't know how a finished formula will feel from that number alone, nor assume twice the concentration would provide twice the result. If your current vitamin C product already fits comfortably into your routine, a different number on this bottle isn't by itself a reason to switch.
The published full lists also contain sodium ascorbyl phosphate, another vitamin C form. No separate concentration is supplied for it. Its presence doesn't mean the bottle contains an additional 5%, and the percentages shouldn't be added together from guesswork.
For someone still choosing a serum's purpose, our Korean serum guide helps separate a hydration purchase from a vitamin C or retinoid purchase. Decide what you want the extra step to do before comparing bottles.
Read beyond the fragrance-free wording
The corporate page uses a fragrance-free icon, while the shop explains its positioning as no artificial fragrance. Their written ingredient lists nevertheless include orange oil, lavender oil and limonene.
That distinction is relevant if you already avoid one of those ingredients. A fragrance-free badge doesn't answer whether a named aromatic oil is present. Use the complete declaration for that decision, and resolve the version question above before relying on it.
The lists also include several botanical extracts, moisturizing ingredients and peptides. This is a complete cosmetic formula, rather than vitamin C dissolved in water alone. We wouldn't turn every extract into another promised benefit or infer ingredient percentages from their order.
There is no need to assume everyone will react to those ingredients. Equally, centella or a sensitive-skin claim can't guarantee that you won't. Your own known triggers are a more concrete starting point than an all-skin-types description.
Three reviews give different answers about the finish
White Rabbit Social's April 2025 account, credited to moonfacedoomface, describes a runny serum with an oily feel and a favorable month of use. It includes affiliate disclosure. The writer's comfort with nightly application is their experience, not evidence that every sensitive skin will find it comfortable.
Crafting Deeds' April 2020 review is much less favorable. The author won the bottle in a giveaway, disliked its heavier feel and discussed color change after prolonged storage. The post also speculates about the cause of reactions while other products and supplements were involved. We aren't adopting that speculation as a diagnosis or proof of which ingredient caused a problem.
Review Galore's May 2022 account describes both giveaway and collaboration products. The writer found the oily feel and interactions with their routine inconvenient, reported irritation and wouldn't repurchase. Its massage and facial-roller suggestions are personal workarounds, not requirements for using the serum.
These accounts suggest a useful question: would you enjoy this kind of liquid beneath your usual moisturizer? They don't establish today's formula, a typical reaction rate or a reliable customer score. A published account can help identify something to watch for without predicting your own result.
How to introduce it without making the routine complicated
The current corporate instructions specify three to four drops after cleansing and toner, spread gently and patted in. The shop places it before moisturizer and advises daytime sunscreen. Follow the package supplied with your bottle if the directions differ.
A toner you already enjoy can stay. You don't need to buy a matching toner or Vitamin E Mask just to make a serum purchase complete. Nor does “up to twice a day” on a product page make twice-daily use a target you must reach.
Before applying it broadly, follow the American Academy of Dermatology's small-area product-checking guidance. Use the normal amount and respect the product's directions. If a reaction develops, wash it off and stop; seek professional advice for severe or persistent symptoms. A successful home check cannot guarantee future tolerance.
The reviewers discuss warmth and tingling, but sensation isn't a measure of effectiveness. You don't need to keep applying a product that leaves your skin uncomfortable to prove you gave it a chance.
Keep your other familiar products steady while deciding whether to continue. Notice how easily you can dispense it, whether you like the finish after moisturizer, and whether it adds a step you actually want. That is a clearer comparison than introducing a new cleanser, toner and serum together.
Color changes and the opening date
The brand's current color guide distinguishes pale yellow from deep orange and tells users to replace the serum at the deep-orange stage. It does not provide a home method for measuring how much vitamin C remains.
That is why “still clear” shouldn't become proof of full potency, and “slightly yellow” shouldn't automatically be treated as the same condition as the deepest color in the guide. Follow the instructions for your actual bottle; if a newly delivered product's appearance concerns you, contact the seller before using it.
The current shop recommends cool, dark storage and refrigeration for freshness. It also displays a 12-month period after opening and a 36-month expiry from manufacture. Those are different clocks. The April 2025 review cites a three-month opening period, which should not override the label on a current purchase.
Write down when you open the bottle and keep its carton long enough to retain the directions. An opening period is not a reason to ignore an earlier change that the manufacturer says requires replacement. Buying several bottles before trying one makes storage and timing more complicated without helping you choose the right formula.
Is the 35 mL bottle good value?
The official shop showed $16.10 for 35 mL, against a $23 reference price, at our check. That is about 46 cents per mL before shipping and tax. The offer can change, and a dated listing price isn't a promise about stock or your delivered total.
For a first purchase, the more useful calculation is whether you are likely to use the bottle according to its instructions. There is little benefit in a low unit price if the texture doesn't suit you, storage is inconvenient or the seller can't clarify the formula.
Choose this Drop when the confirmed label fits your preferences and you want this particular vitamin C step. If the label remains unclear, settle that before ordering. The right purchase should leave you with a serum you understand, not another bottle whose name you are trying to decode.
Use vitamin C serum in the morning after toner, before moisturizer and SPF. See whether it pairs with niacinamide, retinol and snail mucin, by formula.
How to use azelaic acid: apply after toner on dry skin, start once or twice a week and finish with SPF. Compare Anua, Medicube and Centellian24 10% serums.
