Is Aestura good? Which AtoBarrier 365 product to buy first
Updated October 22, 2026
Yes. Aestura is a good, unflashy brand if your skin is dry, tight or easily irritated, and AtoBarrier 365 Cream, 80 ml is the product to buy first. If your skin is oily or you dislike a cushiony cream, start with the gel-textured Hydro Soothing Cream instead, and save Cream Plus for when you have finished a jar of the original and want something richer.
Aestura's strength is one consistent idea: fragrance-free moisturizers built around ceramide-like lipids, cholesterol and fatty acids, sold in clear texture steps. Where it's ordinary is everything around that idea. The rest of each formula is a well-made but conventional mix of humectants, emollients and silicones, and the prices sit in the middle of the market rather than at the bottom.
This is a researched guide to current US brand and retailer information, checked October 2026. We haven't worn or tested these products; texture descriptions are Aestura's, and the buying advice comes from comparing formulas, directions, sizes and prices.
Is Aestura a good brand?
Aestura is a good brand for a specific job: keeping dry, sensitive skin comfortable with simple moisturizers that leave fragrance out. None of the four AtoBarrier 365 moisturizers we checked has fragrance in its ingredient list, and the creams share the same lipid backbone, so you can move between textures without starting over.
It comes from Amorepacific, the Korean group behind Laneige and Sulwhasoo. Amorepacific's brand page presents Aestura as a dermocosmetic line built on "heritage from Pacific Pharma" and the group's skin research.
The honest limits are worth knowing before you buy:
The original AtoBarrier 365 Cream and Cream Plus are close to the same formula, so the line is wider than it is deep.
Only one product here prints an active percentage: A-Cica Calming Cream's 5% panthenol. Aestura doesn't publish how much of its ceramide-like lipids any cream contains, or the salicylic acid level in Theracne365.
Aestura publishes its own moisture measurements, including moisturization for "up to 120 hours" after applying the 365 Cream. We haven't seen the study, so read that as the brand's claim rather than a promise for your skin.
The AtoBarrier 365 moisturizers, from lightest to richest
AtoBarrier 365 is the line most people mean when they say Aestura. Four moisturizers from it are on our shelf, and Aestura positions them as a texture ladder: Hydro Soothing Cream and the Lotion at the light end, the original cream in the middle, Cream Plus at the rich end.
AtoBarrier 365 Cream, the original
The 80 ml original is $27.99 at Sleepy Hello, checked October 2026, about $0.35 per ml. Aestura describes it as a capsule cream with a fresh, less-sticky finish for dry, very dry and sensitive skin. The visible capsules soften and melt as you press the cream in.
The ingredient list opens with water, glycerin and butylene glycol. Those are humectants, which pull water into the top layer of skin. Next come butylene glycol dicaprylate/dicaprate, pentaerythrityl tetraisostearate, cyclopentasiloxane, squalane, cetyl ethylhexanoate, behenyl alcohol and stearic acid: softening emollients, a silicone that adds slip and then evaporates, and a fatty alcohol that thickens the cream.
The barrier part comes right after. Hydroxypropyl bispalmitamide MEA and hydroxypropyl bislauramide MEA are lab-made lipids designed to behave like ceramides, often called pseudo-ceramides. They sit alongside cholesterol, phytosphingosine and fatty acids (stearic, palmitic and oleic), the same lipid families skin uses to hold on to water. Our product description mentions ceramide NP in the capsules, but ceramide NP isn't named in the ingredient list printed on the page, so check the carton if that particular ceramide matters to you.
Directions: morning and evening, after toner and serum, use a pearl-sized amount as your last moisturizing step. Aestura says you can roll the capsules on the back of your hand first, then press the cream into your skin until they melt.
AtoBarrier 365 Lotion
AtoBarrier 365 Lotion, 150 ml costs the same $27.99 for almost twice the volume, about $0.19 per ml, which makes it the best value in the line. Aestura calls it the lightweight option, with a soft texture that absorbs quickly and a fresh finish, for dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin.
Its list opens with water, butylene glycol, glycerin and squalane, and it keeps the same pseudo-ceramides, cholesterol and phytosphingosine as the cream. Use one to two pumps morning and evening. Aestura also says you can apply it straight after cleansing as your only step, which suits a minimal routine.
AtoBarrier 365 Hydro Soothing Cream
AtoBarrier 365 Hydro Soothing Cream, 60 ml is $28.99, about $0.48 per ml. It's a different formula, a gel that Aestura describes as cooling, with a non-sticky, non-greasy matte finish. The brand recommends it for oily, dehydrated and combination skin, including sensitive skin.
The list opens with water, propanediol, glycerin, phenyl trimethicone and methyl trimethicone (lightweight silicones), then 1,2-hexanediol and trehalose, a sugar that holds water. Amino acids, sucrose and PCA follow, while the pseudo-ceramide and cholesterol appear near the end. Think of it as a hydrating gel with a light lipid touch rather than a lipid-rich cream.
What is the difference between AtoBarrier 365 Cream and Cream Plus?
Cream Plus is the richer version of nearly the same formula, in a slightly larger 90 ml size. Aestura describes the original as fresh and less sticky, and Plus as rich but non-greasy, a more substantial final layer. It credits Plus with two named technologies, DermaON moisturizing capsules and Fila Green Barrier, but doesn't say which ingredients make up Fila Green Barrier.
On paper the two lists are very close. Both run water, a humectant, butylene glycol dicaprylate/dicaprate, pentaerythrityl tetraisostearate, cyclopentasiloxane, squalane, cetyl ethylhexanoate and behenyl alcohol in nearly the same order, and both carry the same two pseudo-ceramides, cholesterol and phytosphingosine. The visible changes in Plus: butylene glycol and glycerin swap places, hydroxypropyl bispalmitamide MEA moves up a spot, palmitic acid sits higher, myristic and arachidic acids are added, and a Bacillus/soybean ferment extract appears at the end.
AtoBarrier 365 Cream Plus, 90 ml is $29.99 at Sleepy Hello, checked October 2026, about $0.33 per ml, so it's slightly cheaper per ml than the original. Directions are the same idea: morning and evening, after toner and serum, as the last step, patted in until absorbed.
Pick the original if it's your first Aestura cream, your skin is dry but you dislike a heavy layer, or you'll wear it under sunscreen every morning.
Pick Plus if the original fades on your cheeks by midday, your air is cold and dry, or you want a dedicated night cream. Aestura labels Plus for all skin types but says its richer texture especially suits dry, very dry or barrier-compromised skin.
Is Aestura AtoBarrier 365 Cream good for oily skin?
Not as a first choice. The original is made for dry, very dry and sensitive skin, and with squalane and several emollients near the top of its list, it's on the cushioned side for an oily face, especially under summer sunscreen.
Oily skin has two better routes within the brand. Hydro Soothing Cream is the AtoBarrier gel Aestura recommends for oily, dehydrated and combination skin. If breakouts are the bigger worry, Theracne365 Soothing Active Moisturizer is built for that (more below). If your cheeks are dry but your T-zone is shiny, a thin layer of the original only where you feel tight is a reasonable way to use it. For more lightweight options from other brands, see our moisturizer guide for oily skin.
Beyond AtoBarrier: A-Cica, Theracne365, sunscreen and cleanser
A-Cica Calming Cream, for easily irritated skin
A-Cica Calming Cream, 60 ml is $25.99, about $0.43 per ml, checked October 2026. Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5, a humectant that helps skin feel softer) is listed third at a stated 5%, after water and propanediol. It also carries four centella compounds, madecassoside, asiaticoside, madecassic acid and asiatic acid, plus squalane, beta-glucan and allantoin, and Aestura says it has no added fragrance.
The brand describes a fresh, light, non-greasy finish. We'd put it on the shortlist for skin that gets easily irritated or tends toward redness and wants a lighter cream than AtoBarrier 365. Aestura's stated aim is comfort, not a visible change in redness, so keep expectations there. Apply morning and evening at the cream step, pressing from the center of your face outward.
Theracne365 Soothing Active Moisturizer, for breakout-prone skin
Theracne365 Soothing Active Moisturizer, 60 ml is $30.99, about $0.52 per ml. Aestura positions it for acne-prone or oily skin, including sensitive combination skin, with a soft-touch finish and a fragrance-free formula.
The list opens with water, butylene glycol, caprylic/capric triglyceride and niacinamide, and includes dimethicone, potassium glycyrrhizate (a licorice-derived soothing ingredient), salicylic acid, sodium hyaluronate and zinc chloride. Aestura says the niacinamide helps reduce the look of blemishes and the zinc helps manage excess oil. Because the salicylic acid level isn't published, introduce it slowly if you already use a BHA toner or pad. Use it morning and evening on dry skin after cleanser, toner and serum.
Derma UV365 Red Calming Tone-Up Sunscreen
Derma UV365 Red Calming Tone-Up Sunscreen, 40 ml is $27.99, about $0.70 per ml, and is labeled SPF 50+ PA++++. It's a pink tone-up formula, so its calming job is visual: Aestura says the tint softens the look of red tone and suits cool, warm and neutral undertones. The filters combine chemical filters, including diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate, homosalate and bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine, with titanium dioxide, and the brand calls it fragrance-free. Use about two finger-lengths for face and neck, 15 to 30 minutes before sun exposure.
AtoBarrier 365 Foaming Cleanser
AtoBarrier 365 Foaming Cleanser, 150 ml is $16.99, the least expensive way into the brand. It pumps out ready-made foam that Aestura describes as mildly acidic and designed to reduce hand friction, for dry, normal and sensitive skin. Aestura doesn't publish its pH, and the full ingredient list isn't printed on our product page yet. Its cleansing is deliberately mild, so remove stubborn makeup or sunscreen with a cleansing oil first and use this as the second cleanse.
Which Aestura product should I start with?
Start with one moisturizer, chosen by how your current one lets you down:
Dry, tight or flaky, and new to the brand: AtoBarrier 365 Cream.
Dry, but you dislike a heavy layer or want the best value per ml: AtoBarrier 365 Lotion.
Oily, combination, or tight but shiny: AtoBarrier 365 Hydro Soothing Cream.
The original isn't rich enough by midday: AtoBarrier 365 Cream Plus.
Easily irritated and you want a lighter cream: A-Cica Calming Cream.
Oily and breakout-prone: Theracne365 Soothing Active Moisturizer.
What to skip: don't buy the original and Plus together, since they overlap so much that you'd mostly be paying twice for one cream. You also don't need the matching AtoBarrier toner, essence or mist for the moisturizer to do its job; add one only if your routine already has a gap there. Change one product at a time so you can tell what your skin likes, and if you're building a routine for reactive skin from scratch, our Korean skincare guide for sensitive skin covers the order.
Where to buy, with Sleepy Hello prices checked October 2026:
Yes, it's Korean. Aestura belongs to Amorepacific, the Seoul-based beauty group that also owns Laneige and Sulwhasoo, and Amorepacific presents it as a dermocosmetic brand drawing on its pharmaceutical heritage.
Is Aestura AtoBarrier 365 Cream fragrance-free?
Yes, going by its ingredient list: the AtoBarrier 365 Cream list on our product page includes no fragrance and no essential oils, and the same holds for Cream Plus, the Lotion and Hydro Soothing Cream. The behenyl, arachidyl and C14-22 alcohols in the cream are fatty alcohols that thicken it, not drying alcohol; no ethanol is listed.
Is Aestura good for sensitive skin?
Sensitive skin is one of the brand's stated targets. The AtoBarrier creams, A-Cica and the foaming cleanser are all positioned for it, and none of the moisturizers checked lists fragrance. Skin still varies, so try any new product on a small area for a few days before using it all over.
Can you wear AtoBarrier 365 Cream under sunscreen?
Yes. Aestura's directions are morning and evening as the last moisturizing step, so apply it, let it settle, then follow with sunscreen. If it feels too rich under SPF, the Lotion or Hydro Soothing Cream are the lighter daytime picks.
Is Aestura worth the price?
For dry or sensitive skin, yes, at $25.99 to $30.99 per moisturizer. The Lotion is the value pick at about $0.19 per ml, while the original cream and Plus land around $0.33 to $0.35 per ml.
Is Illiyoon good? Yes, for dry, sensitive skin on a budget. Compare the Ceramide Ato cream, Soothing Gel, toner, lip mask and mineral sun cream by price.
Yes, for gentle hydration: start with the $16.99 Dive-In serum, add Dive-In Cream for dry skin, Soothing Cream for combination or Balanceful Cica for oily.
Yes, for simple, low-cost basics. Start with the $12.99 Dokdo Toner or $11.99 Cleanser; dry skin should step up to Dokdo Cream or Soybean Panthenol Cream.
