Is Illiyoon good? Yes, for dry skin: the ceramide cream and what to pair with it
Updated October 22, 2026
Illiyoon is a good brand if you want plain, mostly fragrance-free ceramide moisture in big tubes for little money, and the product to buy first is the Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream, 200 ml at $20.00. If your skin runs oily or warm, we'd swap it for the lighter Ceramide Ato Soothing Gel; add the Intensive Ceramide Lip Mask if your lips are the dry spot, and skip the Hyaluronic Moisture Cream and the Ultra Repair body range if you avoid fragrance.
What the brand does well is value and restraint. Most of the line is built around ceramides, glycerin and simple emollients, and much of it is labeled for face and body, which is why the sizes run to 175, 200 and 350 ml. Where it is ordinary: there are no headline actives in the core range, and beyond two ceramide figures printed in parts per million, Illiyoon publishes few strengths. If you want a face moisturizer that also works on dark spots or texture, the Ceramide Ato line isn't built for that.
This is a researched guide built from current Sleepy Hello product pages and Illiyoon's official Korean product page, checked October 2026. We haven't worn or tested these products; texture descriptions are the brand's, and the buying advice comes from comparing formulas, directions, sizes and prices.
Is Illiyoon a good brand?
Yes, for dry and easily irritated skin that needs a dependable moisturizer more than a new active. The core Ceramide Ato products repeat one idea: a ceramide, a humectant such as glycerin to hold water, and an emollient base to soften skin and slow water loss. That is exactly what a tight, flaky or sensitive-feeling face usually needs.
The value case is strong. The Concentrate Cream works out to $0.10 per ml, checked October 2026. For comparison, the Aestura Atobarrier 365 Cream, 80 ml, another ceramide cream from the same parent company, is $27.99, or about $0.35 per ml. Both lists pair a synthetic ceramide-like lipid (hydroxypropyl bispalmitamide MEA) with cholesterol and phytosphingosine; Aestura's adds a second ceramide-like lipid plus squalane, while Illiyoon's printed list also includes Ceramide NP. The practical difference is size and price: Illiyoon gives you 200 ml at under a third of the per-ml cost, and for many dry faces that is enough.
The limits are worth knowing before you buy several products. Not everything in the range is fragrance-free, one product named "Gentle Cleanser" is not a face wash, and the lighter Hyaluronic Moisture Cream contains no ceramides at all. The sections below sort the range so you only buy what fits.
Can you use Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream on your face?
Yes. Our product page describes it as a facial moisturizer that can also go on dry areas of the body. The directions are simple: apply a generous amount to dry areas, spread it gently, and on the face press it into the skin and leave it on. In a routine, we'd use it as the last step at night, and before sunscreen in the morning.
The formula opens with water, butylene glycol, glycerin, dimethicone, pentaerythrityl tetraisostearate and hydrogenated poly(C6-14 olefin), followed by stearic acid, behenyl alcohol and palmitic acid. In plain terms: two humectants, then a silicone and two emollients that give slip and a soft film, then fatty acids and a fatty alcohol that thicken the cream.
The barrier lipids come next. The list includes Ceramide PC-104 (printed as hydroxypropyl bispalmitamide MEA, a synthetic ceramide-like lipid), Ceramide NP, cholesterol and phytosphingosine, alongside myristic and arachidic acids. Ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids are the three lipid families found in skin's own outer layer, which is why this pairing shows up in barrier creams. Illiyoon doesn't publish their percentages.
Illiyoon describes the texture as lightweight and non-sticky, with visible capsules that melt as you spread it. Our page says it contains no added artificial fragrance, though the raw ingredients may have their own smell. Our full Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream review goes deeper on the formula. If you are trying it for the first time on a face that reacts easily, use it on a small area for a few days before going all over.
What is the difference between Illiyoon Ceramide Ato cream and Soothing Gel?
The cream is the richer, lipid-heavy option for dry or tight skin; the Ceramide Ato Soothing Gel, 175 ml is a lighter gel. Illiyoon recommends the gel for every skin type, with dry and sensitive skin particularly highlighted, and its directions include warm-feeling areas; we'd point oily or combination skin to it because of its lighter texture. Both are labeled for face and body; the gel is described as fragrance-free, and the cream as having no added artificial fragrance.
The gel's formula is a different build. Our product page doesn't print its ingredient list yet, so we read it from Illiyoon's official Korean page: water, propanediol, glycerin, caprylic/capric triglyceride and ethylhexyl stearate lead, thickened into a gel with ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer and carbomer. Further down are Ceramide NP at a labeled 104 ppm, betaine, squalane, madecassoside, phytosphingosine and dipotassium glycyrrhizate, a licorice-derived skin-conditioning ingredient common in soothing formulas. The list shows no fragrance.
Parts per million is a small unit: 104 ppm is about 0.01%. That is normal for ceramides, which are used at low levels, but it is a reminder that a ceramide on the label doesn't make two products equally rich. The cream adds cholesterol, Ceramide PC-104 and a fatty-acid blend; the gel does not.
Illiyoon describes the gel as quick-absorbing with a cooling, non-greasy finish, and its directions say to massage a moderate amount into dry or warm-feeling areas of the face, arms or legs, then reapply when needed. At $15.99, it costs about $0.09 per ml, almost the same as the cream.
You don't have to choose only one. A practical split, in our view, is the gel on an oily T-zone, on the body in summer or under sunscreen, and the cream on dry cheeks or at night.
What to pair with the Ceramide Ato cream
The rest of the range is optional. Pick a partner only for a gap your routine already has.
A toner, if you like layering
The Ceramide Ato Gentle Skin Toner, 250 ml is a leave-on toner that Illiyoon describes as lightly viscous and essence-like. Its list starts with water, glycerin, dimethicone, 1,2-hexanediol, propanediol and betaine, with Ceramide NP labeled at 45 ppm, plus hyaluronic acid, allantoin and phytosphingosine. We found no fragrance in the list.
Pat it on with your palms after cleansing, then follow with serum and moisturizer; the directions suggest two or three layers when skin is very dry or flaking. At $20.99, about $0.08 per ml, it suits dry skin that likes several thin hydrating layers. If you already own a hydrating toner, you don't need this one.
A face cleanser, and the one to avoid
For the face, look at the Gentle Foaming Deep Facial Cleanser, 250 ml at $19.99. It is a pump gel that turns to foam with water, and our page describes it as fragrance-free and vegan-certified, with hyaluronic acids and phytosterol in the formula. Our page doesn't print the full ingredient list yet, so check the carton if you avoid specific ingredients.
The Intensive Ceramide Lip Mask, 7 g is a dense balm built on hydrogenated polydecene, diisostearyl malate and waxes, with shea butter, Ceramide NP, meadowfoam seed oil and jojoba oil. It is fragrance-free. Apply a thick layer at bedtime as an overnight mask, or a thin layer during the day. At $11.99 it is the lowest price in this guide and a low-cost way to try the brand.
A mineral sunscreen
The Mineral Skin Barrier Sun Cream SPF50+ PA++++, 50 ml uses zinc oxide as its only UV filter; our page doesn't print the zinc percentage. Panthenol, niacinamide, adenosine, sodium hyaluronate and Ceramide NP appear further down, and the list shows no fragrance. Illiyoon describes a natural finish with minimal white cast that works under makeup.
Apply it as the last step over the cream, on face and neck, and let it set before getting dressed, since the brand warns it may mark fabric. Reapply after swimming, sweating or towel drying. It is $17.99, or $0.36 per ml.
A lighter cream, with a catch
The Hyaluronic Moisture Cream, 100 ml is a gel cream with sodium hyaluronate, glycerin and green tea seed oil, which Illiyoon suggests for oily skin that still feels dehydrated. Two catches: its list includes fragrance, limonene and linalool, and it contains no ceramides. At $12.99 it has the lowest sticker price of the three face moisturizers, but at $0.13 per ml it is the priciest. For oily skin, we would pick the Soothing Gel first.
Body care, as face-and-body value
The Ultra Repair Lotion, 350 ml has the lowest price per ml of the moisturizers here: $15.99, under $0.05 per ml. It is labeled for face and body and intended for very dry skin, with glycerin, panthenol, shea butter and squalane, but it contains fragrance, and the list names linalool, citronellol, limonene, geraniol and hexyl cinnamal. The Ultra Repair Intensive Care Cream, 200 ml, also $15.99, is a richer body cream for calves, arms and heels, with shea butter, panthenol and gluconolactone, a mild PHA exfoliant; it also contains fragrance. If you want fragrance-free body care, use the Concentrate Cream or Soothing Gel on your body instead.
Which Illiyoon product should I start with?
Start with one moisturizer, chosen by how your current one lets you down. If your face feels tight again by afternoon, buy the Concentrate Cream. If moisturizer usually feels heavy or shiny on you, buy the Soothing Gel. If your skin is fine but your lips aren't, the lip mask is the smallest commitment.
Add one product at a time, waiting a week or two between new purchases, so you can tell what is working. Skip the Hyaluronic Moisture Cream and the Ultra Repair products if fragrance bothers you, skip the toner if your routine already has a hydrating step, and never use the Probiotics cleanser on your face. For other options built around the same needs, our Korean skincare for sensitive skin guide is a good next read.
Our shortlist, with Sleepy Hello prices checked October 2026:
Not across the whole range, so check each product. The Concentrate Cream is described as having no added artificial fragrance, and the Soothing Gel, Intensive Ceramide Lip Mask and Gentle Foaming Deep Facial Cleanser are described as fragrance-free. The Gentle Skin Toner and Mineral Skin Barrier Sun Cream lists show no fragrance either.
Of the products in this guide, four contain fragrance: the Hyaluronic Moisture Cream, the Ultra Repair Lotion, the Ultra Repair Intensive Care Cream and the Probiotics Skin Barrier Gentle Cleanser. The range has more products than this guide covers, so check each list before you buy. If fragrance is the thing you're avoiding, read the ingredient panel on the carton you receive, since formulas and packaging change.
Quick answers
Who makes Illiyoon and is it Korean?
Illiyoon is a Korean brand from Amorepacific, which presents it as a low-irritation moisture brand for sensitive skin. The brand has its own page on Amorepacific's corporate brand site. Amorepacific is the Seoul-based company behind Aestura, Laneige and Sulwhasoo; see our Laneige guide and Sulwhasoo review for its other lines.
Is Illiyoon good for sensitive skin?
It is a sensible place to look, because the core Ceramide Ato products are labeled for all skin types, the cream and gel pages name sensitive skin, and the cream, gel and toner skip added fragrance. No product suits everyone, so introduce one at a time and stop using anything that stings or itches.
Is the Illiyoon cream too heavy for oily skin?
It may be. Illiyoon calls it lightweight, but its base of silicone, esters and fatty alcohols is a cream, not a gel. We'd point oily skin to the Soothing Gel for its lighter texture, even though Illiyoon highlights the gel for dry and sensitive skin.
Can you use the Ultra Repair Lotion on your face?
The label says yes, face and body. It contains fragrance, though, so on a reactive face the fragrance-free Concentrate Cream is the better pick from the same brand.
Is the Illiyoon mineral sunscreen water-resistant?
Our product page doesn't make a water-resistance claim. The directions say to reapply after swimming, sweating or towel drying.
Yes, for gentle hydration: start with the $16.99 Dive-In serum, add Dive-In Cream for dry skin, Soothing Cream for combination or Balanceful Cica for oily.
Yes for dry or sensitive skin. Start with AtoBarrier 365 Cream; pick Hydro Soothing if oily. Cream Plus, Lotion, A-Cica and Theracne365 compared by price.
Yes, for simple, low-cost basics. Start with the $12.99 Dokdo Toner or $11.99 Cleanser; dry skin should step up to Dokdo Cream or Soybean Panthenol Cream.
