Anua skincare: how to choose a useful starting point
Updated September 8, 2026
Anua can be a useful brand to shop, especially when you know whether you're replacing a cleanser, adding hydration or choosing a serum for uneven-looking tone. The harder part is navigating the shelf: several products share an ingredient name, and the big number on the bottle doesn't tell you where it belongs in your routine.
Our view is to compare individual formulas before committing to a range. Heartleaf 77 Soothing Toner is a light hydrating liquid. Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil is a fragranced rinse-off cleanser. Niacinamide 10 TXA 4 Serum is a more targeted leave-on product. A good experience with one doesn't predict how you'll feel about the other two.
This guide compares six current US products by their intended job, disclosed formula, directions and cost. Sources were checked September 8, 2026. We haven't tested the range on skin, pooled customer ratings or treated a celebrity endorsement as evidence of results.
Find the part of the shelf you actually need
Anua's organizes products by ingredients such as heartleaf, rice, niacinamide, azelaic acid and PDRN. Those groupings are useful for browsing, but each contains products with different roles.
For a first purchase, narrow the decision this way:
Makeup and sunscreen removal: look at the cleansing oil. Its job is to rinse away, rather than remain as a hydrating layer.
A light liquid after cleansing: consider Heartleaf 77 Soothing Toner. You can enjoy that layer without adding a matching ampoule.
A moisturizer in a pump bottle: compare Rice 70 Intensive Moisturizing Milk. The word “milk” doesn't automatically mean toner.
A lightweight cream: consider PDRN Hyaluronic Acid 100 Moisturizing Cream, while checking whether its ingredients and price suit you.
Uneven-looking tone: investigate Niacinamide 10 TXA 4 Serum and its overlap with products you already use.
A specific interest in azelaic acid: read the Azelaic Acid 10 serum's gradual introduction instructions before buying.
That is a menu of possible starting points. It isn't a six-product routine.
Heartleaf: the toner and oil do different things
Heartleaf 77 Soothing Toner
The current US toner is offered in 250 ml and 500 ml sizes. Anua describes lightweight hydration and labels the formula fragrance-free.
Its ingredient panel begins with heartleaf flower/leaf/stem water and also includes glycerin, betaine, panthenol, botanical extracts and several hyaluronic acid forms. This is worth considering if you enjoy a watery layer beneath your moisturizer. It doesn't need to replace a treatment or make a visible change to every concern to be useful.
Apply after cleansing with fingertips or a cotton pad, then pat gently. The brand allows morning and evening use. Choose the smaller bottle if you haven't tried this version; the larger size is a value decision for someone who already likes it.
Our Heartleaf 77 toner review explains the current Hyaluron label and how its published ingredient list differs from older reviews. The 77 on a heartleaf toner isn't a strength comparison with a 10% niacinamide serum.
Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil
The original 200 ml cleansing oil contains cleansing emulsifiers, emollients and plant oils. It also lists Fragrance. That makes it a different fragrance decision from the Heartleaf toner, despite the shared range name.
Anua directs two to three pumps onto a dry face, gentle massage, water to emulsify, thorough rinsing and a water-based cleanser afterward. The water step matters: this isn't a facial oil you leave on or simply wipe away.
Consider it for a practical removal problem, such as wanting a liquid first cleanser for evening makeup. The product name isn't a reason to expect permanent blackhead removal or to massage your nose for several extra minutes.
The separate Mild oil has its own formula. Our Anua cleansing oil review compares the two and explains why “Mild” still needs a closer ingredient check.
Rice Milk: a lotion hiding behind a familiar toner word
Rice 70 Intensive Moisturizing Milk is a 150 ml lotion in a pump bottle. Anua calls it lightweight and places it after a serum: one or two pumps, smoothed over the face and neck, morning or evening.
This distinction is easy to miss. The brand also sells Rice 70 Glow Milky Toner, a separate product. Even Ulta's Milk listing uses “milky toner” in its benefits text, while Anua's own page describes a lotion. Check the full name and format before following a routine written for the other bottle.
The current US Ulta ingredient list includes rice bran water, glycerin, niacinamide, meadowfoam and coconut oils, ceramides, cholesterol and squalane. No fragrance/parfum is listed. Anua's page provides the product identity and directions; Ulta provides the full formula used for this comparison.
For someone who prefers dispensing lotion from a pump, this is a useful moisturizer candidate. “Lightweight” describes the brand's intended feel; it doesn't establish that every oily or sensitive skin will like the finished product.
PDRN cream: compare the moisturizer around the headline
The full formula begins with water, squalane, glycerin and hydrolyzed collagen. It also includes niacinamide, sodium DNA, silicones, botanical extracts and several HA forms. The ingredient list has more to tell you than the large 100+ on the front.
Anua identifies the PDRN as salmon-derived. If avoiding animal-derived ingredients is part of your buying decision, this matters more than assuming every product in a Korean skincare range follows the same sourcing rules.
Its place is the moisturizing step, with sunscreen afterward in the morning. You don't need the PDRN serum, mist and pads to make the cream complete. We haven't verified the brand's no-pilling promise under different sunscreens or foundations, so that is something to notice in your own routine rather than a guaranteed result.
The two targeted serums deserve separate decisions
Niacinamide 10 TXA 4 Serum
Anua positions this 30 ml serum for the appearance of dark marks and uneven tone. The brand discloses 10% niacinamide, 4% tranexamic acid and 2% arbutin. Its full list separately contains Arbutin and Alpha-Arbutin; the 2% claim should not be relabeled as 2% alpha-arbutin.
It also contains glycerin, HA ingredients, plant oils, panthenol and ceramide NP. Anua labels it fragrance-free. This is a more involved formula than two large numbers suggest, so compare the whole list with your existing serum and known preferences.
The manufacturer places a few drops before moisturizer and advises SPF 30 or higher during the day. Avoid starting several new brightening products at once. The useful question is whether this particular combination fills a gap, not whether 10 is automatically better than a lower niacinamide percentage.
The 30 ml azelaic serum is a different option, positioned around visible redness and blemish-related concerns. Anua discloses 10% azelaic acid. The current list also includes panthenol, betaine salicylate, glycerin, allantoin, niacinamide and centella ingredients.
Its directions are especially useful for deciding whether you want it: begin with one to two drops, one to two times a week, then increase gradually if appropriate. Apply before moisturizer, with SPF 30 or higher during daytime use. There is no need to rush toward the label's maximum frequency.
Don't treat it as another plain hydrating layer simply because Hyaluron and Soothing appear in the name. If you already have an active treatment routine, check that routine's directions before introducing this serum. A cosmetic shopping guide also can't identify the cause of persistent redness or substitute for medical advice about it.
The overlap to notice before combining ranges
Matching packaging isn't the only way to double up. Niacinamide appears in the Rice Milk, PDRN cream and azelaic serum lists, as well as the dedicated Niacinamide 10 TXA 4 Serum. The amounts aren't all disclosed, and you can't add their ingredient-list positions to calculate a combined percentage.
That overlap doesn't automatically make a combination unsuitable. It does mean that buying from different Anua ranges doesn't necessarily add a new ingredient or a new job.
Think about formats as well. A toner, serum, pad and mist may all be purchases for extra hydration. Owning all four gives you more application styles; it doesn't establish that your skin needs all four. A moisturizer and a cleanser, meanwhile, have different jobs even when both mention heartleaf.
For a first Anua purchase, keep the rest of a routine you already tolerate familiar. You will have a clearer sense of what the new bottle changes.
What does a sensible first purchase cost?
At our September 8 check, Anua's US single-product prices were:
Cleansing Oil, 200 ml: $22.
Heartleaf 77 Toner, 250 ml: $23; 500 ml: $34.50.
Rice Milk, 150 ml: $20.
PDRN Cream, 60 ml: $31.
Niacinamide 10 TXA 4 Serum, 30 ml: $24.
Azelaic Acid 10 Serum, 30 ml: $24.
Buying all six with the smaller toner would total $144 before delivery or tax. That isn't a starter budget you need to meet. Replacing an empty lotion with the Rice Milk is a $20 decision; adding every neighboring bottle changes both the cost and the routine you're trying to assess.
The two moisturizers also offer different quantities. Rice Milk costs about $13.33 per 100 ml at these prices, while PDRN Cream costs about $51.67 per 100 ml. That doesn't measure performance, richness or how long either will last. It does make the price difference clearer than comparing the bottle totals alone.
Prices and offers can change. Judge a set by the products you planned to buy and would actually use, not just the discount printed beside it.
Read reviews for the details a star rating leaves out
A helpful review names the exact product and version, explains what it was used with and describes a specific experience. “The whole range gave me glass skin” doesn't isolate which product mattered, whether makeup was involved or whether the writer changed several things together.
Texture and application details can still be valuable. A writer explaining that a pump dispenses more than expected gives you something concrete to consider. A claim of rapid dark-spot removal is a much bigger leap, especially when several products were introduced together.
Separate a product you like using from a result you can confidently attribute to it. You don't need a medical-sounding explanation to prefer a lotion's pump, a toner's light feel or a cleanser's rinse.
Give the new bottle a straightforward introduction
Follow the exact product's directions, including a gradual schedule where specified. The AAD's general order puts cleansing before treatment, then moisturizer and/or sunscreen. That doesn't require buying every optional Anua step between them.
The AAD also recommends a small-area check before using new skincare more widely. Its general method is twice daily for seven to ten days, but don't use that general frequency to override the azelaic serum's slower introduction. Follow appropriate rinse-off times for a cleanser. Stop and wash off a product if a reaction occurs; severe or unresolved symptoms warrant professional advice.
Anua's breadth is useful when it lets you find the right replacement. Start with the bottle that belongs where something is missing or running out. Leave the rest on the shelf until you have a reason to return for it.
