Best Korean mascara for straight lashes: Clio Kill Lash, or Rom&nd Han All Fix for less
Updated October 22, 2026
Clio Kill Lash Superproof is our first pick for straight lashes that drop a curl by lunchtime: it's waterproof, Clio says it resists water, sweat and sebum, and you choose a length or a volume brush for $14.99. Rom&nd Han All Fix is the better buy if you want the same kind of waterproof, curl-holding formula for less ($10.99) or a softer ash or brown shade.
The other five each do one job: Etude Curl Fix for a light, lash-by-lash look, Missha Ultra Powerproof for short, downward-pointing lashes, Red Cookies Beaurer for a quick-setting gel, Unleashia Lift Lock for small, hard-to-reach lashes, and NeoGen's metal applicator for brush-free volume.
This is a researched comparison of current US brand and retailer information, checked October 2026. We haven't worn or tested these mascaras; wear and texture descriptions are each brand's, and the buying advice comes from comparing formulas, brushes, directions, sizes and prices.
Why do Korean mascaras hold a curl better on straight lashes?
Because many are built to be light and to set fast, which matters most on straight lashes. A fine, straight lash wants to spring back to its natural angle, and a heavy, slow-drying coat adds weight that pulls it down while it dries. Missha, for one, aims its Curl Up Long Lash at short, straight or downward-pointing lashes and says the light feel won't let the lift droop.
The ingredient lists show how. Rom&nd, Etude, Missha and Red Cookies all list isododecane first, a light solvent that evaporates soon after you apply it. It leaves behind trimethylsiloxysilicate, a silicone resin that forms a thin, flexible film, plus waxes such as ceresin and microcrystalline wax that give the coat body. Clio's list includes the same solvent, film former and waxes. What stays on the lash is a set film rather than a wet layer.
Technique matters too: Rom&nd, Missha and Unleashia start their directions by curling the lashes, and Rom&nd says to let the mascara dry completely.
Clio Kill Lash Superproof vs Rom&nd Han All Fix: which should you buy?
Buy Clio if you want the broadest wear claim and a brush shaped for your lash goal; buy Rom&nd if price or shade matters more. Both are waterproof and both come in a 7 g tube.
Clio New Kill Lash Superproof Mascara
Clio New Kill Lash Superproof Mascara, 7 g costs $14.99 at Sleepy Hello, checked October 2026, about $2.14 per gram. 01 Long Curling has a slim, curved brush that Clio designed to follow the curve of the eye: sweep the inside of the curve upward from roots to tips, then use the outside beneath the lashes for extra length. 02 Volume Curling is held upright and swept vertically under the lashes. Clio says 01 suits short or less-defined lashes and 02 gives thin-looking lashes more body.
Clio describes a waterproof liquid with a natural finish, designed to resist flaking and drooping from morning to evening and to resist smudging from water, sweat and sebum, and positions it as suitable for sensitive eyes. Beyond the solvent, film former and waxes, the list includes extras Rom&nd's doesn't: hydrolyzed collagen, lactobacillus ferment filtrates, olive fruit oil, camellia sinensis (tea) seed oil and argan kernel oil. For removal, Clio's directions name its own Kill Lash Mascara Remover as an option; Sleepy Hello doesn't stock it.
Rom&nd Han All Fix Mascara
Rom&nd Han All Fix Mascara, 7 g costs $10.99 at Sleepy Hello, checked October 2026, about $1.57 per gram. It comes in L01 Long Black, L02 Long Ash, L03 Long Hazel and VO1 Volume Black. The Long types use a slim curved spoolie; Volume Black uses a slim flat one. Rom&nd describes Ash as having no red undertone, for cool-toned looks, and Hazel as a soft brown for nude makeup.
Rom&nd says the formula resists smudging from water and oil and keeps lashes curled and fixed all day. Its list is lean: isododecane, trimethylsiloxysilicate, talc, ceresin, microcrystalline wax, dextrin palmitate and black iron oxide lead it, with no added plant oils or extracts. Curl first, brush upward slowly from the roots for a light, even coat, let it dry completely, and remove it with eye makeup remover.
Our take
Pick Clio if you wear mascara through heat and long days, since its claim names sweat and drooping, or if you want a brush shaped for length or for volume. Pick Rom&nd if you'd rather spend $4 less, if ash or hazel suits you better than black, or if you prefer a short ingredient list without plant oils.
Five more Korean mascaras for straight lashes
Etude Curl Fix Mascara: light, lash-by-lash curl
Etude Curl Fix Mascara 01 Black, 8 g costs $15.99 at Sleepy Hello, checked October 2026, about $2.00 per gram; Etude Curl Fix Mascara 02 Brown is the same price. Etude describes a lightweight, natural-looking finish that separates lashes one at a time, with a slim, densely bristled brush for inner and outer corners. It claims curl lasting up to 24 hours and waterproof, smudge-proof wear.
The list starts with isododecane, trimethylsiloxysilicate, ceresin, dextrin palmitate/ethylhexanoate and talc, then an acrylate film-forming copolymer. Etude says it works on lower lashes too; if you use a mascara fixer underneath, let it dry for 10 to 20 seconds first. Etude recommends a dedicated mascara remover. Pick it when you want definition that doesn't look heavily coated.
Missha Ultra Powerproof Mascara Curl Up Long Lash: for short, downward lashes
Missha Ultra Powerproof Mascara Curl Up Long Lash, 8 g costs $12.99 at Sleepy Hello, checked October 2026, about $1.62 per gram. Its curved C-Curl brush grips lashes from root to tip, and Missha describes the feel as light enough not to let the lift droop. Missha says it's waterproof against water, sweat and oil for up to 24 hours.
The list leads with isododecane, trimethylsiloxysilicate, talc, ceresin, disteardimonium hectorite (a clay thickener) and microcrystalline wax, and further down adds panthenol and hydrolyzed soy protein. Curl thoroughly, zigzag upward from the roots, add an optional second coat, and remove it with a waterproof-makeup remover. It's the lengthening pick for lashes that point down, at $2 less than Clio.
Red Cookies Beaurer Curl Mascara: a quick-setting gel
Red Cookies Beaurer Curl Mascara, 8 ml costs $11.99 at Sleepy Hello, checked October 2026, about $1.50 per ml. Red Cookies calls it a lightweight gel that sets quickly, designed for a natural C-curl, with strong fixation to keep powder fallout away and waterproof wear against oil, sweat and friction. Its list begins with isododecane, trimethylsiloxysilicate, hydrogenated polyisobutene, microcrystalline wax and polyethylene.
Place the curved side of the brush at the roots, sweep upward in a zigzag, and comb again to build lift. Our product page gives no removal directions for Red Cookies, so remove it as you would any waterproof formula. Pick it if flaking under the eyes is your main complaint.
Unleashia Lift Lock Fixing Mascara: a 1 mm brush for hard-to-reach lashes
Unleashia Lift Lock Fixing Mascara No.1 Clear Black, 3.7 g costs $5.89 at Sleepy Hello, checked October 2026, about $1.59 per gram. Despite the name, Unleashia says No.1 Clear Black is visibly deep black, not a colorless fixer. The 1 mm ultra-slim brush is designed for precise coating of smaller, less accessible lashes, and Unleashia describes the wear as smudge-resistant against sebum and humidity rather than waterproof.
Curl first, then zigzag from roots to tips. To remove it, Unleashia says to press a cotton pad soaked in eye makeup remover over the closed eye for a few seconds, then wipe without harsh rubbing. Our product page doesn't print a full ingredient list. The small tube is a low-cost first try, or a second mascara for small, hard-to-reach lashes.
NeoGen Extra Volume Curl Metal Mascara: brush-free volume
NeoGen Extra Volume Curl Metal Mascara in Black, 4 ml costs $24.99 at Sleepy Hello, checked October 2026, about $6.25 per ml, the priciest pick here. Instead of bristles it uses a narrow metal applicator with a 360° working surface, designed to reach lower and small corner lashes. NeoGen says it builds volume, length and curl and resists water, sebum and sweat.
Sweep upward from the base, add layers as you like, and remove it with an oil-based remover; NeoGen says to wipe or rinse the applicator after use, and the wand works with compatible NeoGen refills. Our page names three trade-named ingredient complexes (Oligogeline, BioExtender SPE and Whitekera) but no full ingredient list.
What is the best Korean mascara for volume?
Clio Kill Lash 02 Volume Curling is our pick, because it pairs a volume brush with the same waterproof, anti-droop claims as the length version. Clio says it gives thin-looking lashes fuller definition without caking, at the same $14.99.
Rom&nd VO1 Volume Black is the budget alternative at $10.99, with a slim flat spoolie; volume only comes in black. NeoGen suits you if you want to build volume in layers and reach lower lashes without bristles, but at $24.99 for 4 ml you're paying for the applicator. Missha's Curl Up Volume version isn't currently stocked at Sleepy Hello.
On fine, straight lashes every extra layer adds weight. Our take: let the first coat set, then add a second thin coat, rather than loading the brush once.
How do you remove waterproof Korean mascara without tugging?
Dissolve the film with oil before you wipe. These formulas are made to resist water, so a foaming cleanser alone invites rubbing.
Bi-phase remover first. Shake to mix the oil and water layers, soak a cotton pad, and hold it over the closed eye for a few seconds so the oil can loosen the film. Wipe down and outward, turning to a clean side of the pad instead of scrubbing.
Cleansing oil or balm for the rest of your face. After the bi-phase step, massage it over dry skin with your eyes closed, keeping it off the lash line if your oil contains essential oils. Add a little water until it turns milky, rinse, and follow with a water-based cleanser.
For step 1, Banila Co Clean It Zero Lip & Eye Remover, 100 ml is $9.39 at Sleepy Hello, checked October 2026. Banila Co describes a 3:7 oil-to-water bi-phase made to lift waterproof mascara without excessive rubbing, and calls it fragrance-free; its list starts with water, isohexadecane and isododecane. Illiyoon Fresh Moisture Lip & Eye Remover, 150 ml is a larger two-phase option at $11.99.
For step 2, Ma:nyo Pure Cleansing Oil, 200 ml is $16.99. Its ingredient list includes lavender, orange and tea tree oils, and the product page's directions say to keep it out of your eyes and avoid the lash line if you wear extensions, which is why we'd leave the lashes to the bi-phase remover.
How to choose, and where to buy
Start with your lash problem. Prices are at Sleepy Hello, checked October 2026.
None of the seven is sold or described as a tubing mascara. Clio, Rom&nd, Etude, Missha and Red Cookies call theirs waterproof; Unleashia describes resistance to sebum and humidity, and NeoGen to water, sebum and sweat. Tubing mascaras wrap each lash in polymer tubes that slide off with warm water. Six of the seven name a remover in their directions (eye makeup, mascara, waterproof-makeup or oil-based, or Clio's own); our Red Cookies page gives no removal directions.
Do you need to curl your lashes first?
Rom&nd, Missha and Unleashia say yes and start their directions by curling the lashes; the other four don't mention it. Our take: on straight lashes, curling first gives the mascara a shape to hold.
Which Korean mascara is cheapest?
Unleashia Lift Lock has the lowest price at $5.89 for 3.7 g. Per unit, Red Cookies ($1.50 per ml), Rom&nd ($1.57 per gram), Unleashia ($1.59 per gram) and Missha ($1.62 per gram) are close; grams and milliliters aren't directly comparable.
Is Clio Kill Lash good for sensitive eyes?
Clio positions it as suitable for sensitive eyes; our product page gives no more detail. If your eyes water or sting with any mascara, take it off gently with a bi-phase remover and stop using it.
Rom&nd Dewyful for a glossy stain, Blur Fudge for soft matte, Etude Fixing Tint for less transfer: eight Korean lip tints compared by finish and price.
Etude Double Lasting for oily skin, Hera Silky Stay for long days, Espoir Be Glow for glow: Korean foundations compared by finish, SPF and shade range.
